Ashamed to be a Tennessean

Today, I am just sick. I am ashamed to say I’m a Tennessean.

The Tennessee Senate passed SB0049, otherwise known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. This bill, the brain child of Stacy Campfield, is nothing but legislating hate and continuing an atmosphere of ignorance and shame.

Some of the comments on the knoxnews.com story today were truly telling of the types of people that support this piece of trash:

2 guys loving each other is immoral and I will get banned for saying that but you people won’t call it for what it is and try to sugar coat it everytime. You want your kids to watch 2 guys going at it?You are one sick puppy. — wvol2

… and that’s not even the worst of them. I deleted those earlier today.

There is, however, one positive thing to take away from this. The poll I created shows a surprising 75% of readers disagree with the bill. Let’s hope they all contact their House reps.

. . .

I thought our legislators were done making a mockery of our state. I thought they had met their quota of backwards legislation. I was wrong. So very wrong.

Tennesse anti-abortion measure headed for 2014 ballot

NASHVILLE — A proposed constitutional amendment to allow the state to impose stricter limits on abortions will go before voters in 2014 after the House gave final approval to the measure on a 76-18 vote Friday.

REALLY?? Jesus Rollerblading Christ!

I hope there IS a rapture on Saturday. Maybe we can rid ourselves of  these people who insist on bringing religion to lawmaking.
